2006 HEW a Huge Success
With 152 impactful programs in venues across the Greater Toronto and surrounding areas, over 25,399 persons attended Holocaust Education Week 2006, the largest event of its kind in the world. Over 5,000 of the participants were students. Venues throughout the community included churches, synagogues, universities, colleges, hospitals, theatres, public libraries and schools. The nine day event offered an opportunity for people from diverse religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds to learn about the history of the Holocaust and to understand the lessons that this watershed event can teach about the importance of championing religious and racial tolerance while protecting Canadian values of multiculturalism and democracy.

The UJA Federation of Greater Toronto Holocaust Centre has been committed - for almost two decades - to ensuring that never again will the world act as a bystander to mass murder and genocide. Through our vital work, the Centre is committed to honouring and memorializing the victims of Nazi persecution, to cherishing the legacy of the survivors, and to perpetuating dynamic educational and cultural programming for future generations.

In addition, the Centre offers curriculum guidance and professional development programs to schools and teachers.
