LIGHT ONE CANDLE: A CHILD’S DIARY OF THE HOLOCAUST
This exhibit is based on the book Light One Candle:
From Lithuania to Jerusalem by Holocaust survivor
SOLLY GANOR. The exhibit
features the photographs of
George Kadish [Zvi (Hirsh)
Kadushin], one of the only
Jewish photographers who
was able to photograph life
in the Kovno ghetto during
the War. The exhibit encompasses
photos of children in
the streets of the ghetto (including one of Ganor as
a boy), one of the mass murders of Kovno Jews,
and several images taken in Waakirchen, Bavaria,
on May 2, 1945, of the Japanese-American troops
who liberated Solly Ganor. The exhibition also
features photographs of Chiune Sugihara, the
Japanese consul in Kovno, Lithuania (1939-1940)
who issued thousands of life-saving visas, and
whom Ganor met as a young boy. The exhibition is
curated by Eric Saul.
Open Tuesdays to Fridays – 10:00am to 4:00pm and
Sundays – 12:00noon to 4:00pm. Admission free.
For more information, call 416-636-1880 ext. 268.
Generously co-sponsored by Wendy & Elliot Eisen, Liuba Grossman and Sara Pliamm.
