MY PERSONAL TESTIMONY
Holocaust survivor ADA WYNSTON will deliver the
morning sermon. Born in 1936 in Amsterdam, Holland,
she and 231 other Jewish children were rescued from a
Jewish day care centre by the Dutch underground. At
the age of six, she went into hiding with Dutch-Reform
Christian families from 1942 to 1945. Altogether, 73
members of her family were murdered in Sobibor and
Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps. She immigrated to
Canada in 1957.

THE JEWS OF CZESTOCHOWA: COEXISTENCE, HOLOCAUST, MEMORY (EXHIBIT)
From a handful of Jews who settled in the early
1600s, a Jewish community grew and flourished in
the 19th and 20th centuries. Czestochowa Jews built
magnificent synagogues, established major businesses,
and provided cultural and communal services.
SIGMUND ROLAT will lecture on
this exhibit, honouring memory,
while opening the way to a new
understanding and respect for the
long, richly-textured Jewish chapter
in Czestochowa's history.
Mr. Rolat is President of the World Society of
Czestochowa Jews and their Descendents. He was
born in Czestochowa, Poland, and survived World
War II in hiding and in the forced labour camp Hasag
Pelcery. Presently his chief philanthropic endeavour
is the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in
Warsaw. PETER JASSEM, President, The Polish-
Jewish Heritage Foundation and EPHRAIM FIKSEL,
President, The Chenstochover Aid Society (Toronto)
will also participate.
Generously co-sponsored by Sigmund Rolat and by
The Chenstochover Aid Society.

THE HISTORY OF LOVE
This stirring, soulful novel by Nicole Krauss tells the
story of Leo Gursky who, over sixty years ago in the
Polish village where he was born, fell in love and wrote
a book. He survived the War unaware that his book
crossed oceans and generations and, in the process,
changed the lives of those who read it. Presented by
CATHY TILE, a much sought-after book reviewer, as
part of the "Treasures in Jewish Literature" series.
Tickets: $15 at the door.
Co-sponsored by the Bathurst Jewish Community Centre.
