The 17th Annual Student Art & Literary Contest encourages students to learn about the Holocaust and foster an inclusive society.
3 Divisions:
Senior: Grades 10-12
Intermediate: Grades 8 & 9
NEW! Junior: Grades 6 & 7
Prizes for Senior & Intermediate Winners:
1st Place winners for both categories of each division will receive round-trip airfare and accommodation to visit a Holocaust museum of note. Previous locations have included the USHMM in Washington, DC; Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust; and the Holocaust Museum in Skokie, Ill. A chaperone from the Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre will accompany the group.
2nd Place winners for both categories of each division will receive a $200 Ontario Savings Bond.
3rd Place winners for both categories of each division will receive a $100 Ontario Savings Bond.
Prizes for Junior Division Winners:
1st Place winners for both categories of the division will receive a $300 Ontario Savings Bond.
2nd Place winners for both categories of the division will receive a $200 Ontario Savings Bond.
3rd Place winners for both categories of the division will receive a $100 Ontario Savings Bond.

DEADLINE: APRIL 23, 2010
AWARDS: The winners of each division and the details of the award ceremony will be announced by May 20, 2010.
Rules:
Format: Literary entries may be in the form of an essay, poem or collection of poems, script or performance piece, or another form of writing. For intermediate and senior contestants, literary entries may be a maximum of 1200 words. For junior contestants, please keep your literary entry to a maximum of 500 words.
Art entries must be accompanied by an artist statement (no longer than 200 words; 100 words for junior contestants). Artistic entries may be in the artist’s chosen medium (sculpture, ceramic, drawing, collage, painting, etc.) but must not contain any dangerous materials. For example, the use of barbed-wire is not permitted, although use of another non-dangerous material to symbolize barbed-wire is permitted. If using chalks or another medium that may become smudged, please use a fixative.
All contestants should be as concise in their written information as possible. Judges are not permitted to contact contestants to seek clarification on any point. Please note that the contest cannot accept any entry that is the work of more than one person or group of individuals. Entries must be credited to an individual student.
